Resin printed, so handle with care
This shotgun is resin printed, not injection molded like most brick parts. That's how it gets details a mold can't make, like the open loading port cut right into the receiver. The trade is that resin is softer and more fragile than regular plastic.
Go easy when you press it into a fig's hand, and don't bend or force the thin parts like the barrel and pump. Treat it like a model kit and it'll look great for years.
The story behind the breacher
- The classic pump. This one is built in the style of the Remington 870, the pump shotgun that has been around since 1950 and is still one of the best-selling shotguns ever made. Police, soldiers and hunters have all carried it for generations.
- Cut down for the job. Breaching guns lose the shoulder stock and most of the barrel. A short shotgun is easier to carry slung on your back next to a rifle, and easier to handle in a narrow stairwell or doorway.
- How breaching works. Instead of the lock itself, breachers usually aim at the hinges and latch. Special breaching rounds are made of packed metal powder that hits hard and then breaks apart, so the door opens without much flying through to the other side.
- The real ones overseas. U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan carried 870s and Mossberg 590s set up just like this, plus the Benelli M1014 and the M26, a small shotgun that mounts right under an M4 rifle. One soldier carried the shotgun so the whole team could get through the door.
- Not just military. SWAT teams and police tactical units use cut-down pumps the same way, which is why this look shows up in almost every modern raid scene.
