Officially, it's the Naval Special Warfare Development Group. Everyone else knows it as SEAL Team Six. This pack isn't the stripped-down raid look. It's the everyday Global War on Terror kit, the bulky helmets, full plate carriers and desert digital camo these operators wore on rotation after rotation in Afghanistan and Iraq. Five operators, five faces, and enough gear to stock a whole armory.

The story behind Team Six

  • Frogmen first. The SEALs grew out of the Navy's WWII frogmen, the demolition teams who swam onto beaches at Normandy and across the Pacific to clear the way. In 1962, President Kennedy stood up the first SEAL teams, named for where they fight: Sea, Air and Land.
  • Born from Desert One. After the failed 1980 hostage rescue in Iran, the Navy wanted its own dedicated counter-terrorism team. Commander Richard Marcinko built it that same year and called it SEAL Team Six, even though only two SEAL teams existed at the time. The idea was to keep everyone else guessing how many there really were.
  • A new name in 1987. Team Six was officially renamed the Naval Special Warfare Development Group, DEVGRU for short. The old name never went away.
  • The best of the SEALs. Every SEAL survives BUD/S and its famous Hell Week first. DEVGRU then picks from experienced SEALs, who go through their own selection course before they're in.
  • The work the world saw. In 2009, Team Six snipers rescued Captain Richard Phillips from pirates off Somalia, a story later told in the movie Captain Phillips. Most of their work, though, was years of quiet rotations through the Global War on Terror, wearing gear a lot like this.

The details that make them DEVGRU

  • The knight's cross. A red cross patch on the left sleeve, and again on the chest. Team Six is split into squadrons with their own nicknames and symbols, and the knight's cross is the one collectors tie to Gold Squadron, the "Knights."
  • Navy desert digital camo. The tan and brown digital pattern Naval Special Warfare wore in the desert, from the helmet down to the boots.
  • Flag on the sleeve. An American flag on the right arm, plus a red arrowhead patch on the chest.
  • Printed kit head to toe. Magazine pouches, cargo pockets, knee pads, boots, and gloved hands like the real operators wear.

What's in the pack

  • Five operators, five personalities. Every fig gets its own head, from a bearded vet to sunglasses and a smirk to a gritted-teeth grimace, so no two look alike.
  • Everyday GWOT kit. Bulky railed helmets, full plate carriers, backpacks and belts, the gear for long days, not a quick in-and-out.
  • Machine guns. M60, M240B, M249 SAW and RPD, with bipods, ammo boxes and a drum.
  • Carbines. Tan M4A1 and HK416-style carbines with ACOG and long-range scopes, a Mk 18, and a short-barrel carbine with a holo sight.
  • Shotguns. AA-12 with drum, Striker, KSG-style bullpup, and a pump-action trench gun.
  • Sidearms. Glock-style pistols (one with a light), M9, P226-style, 1911, and revolvers, including a big-bore with a red dot.
  • Blades and breaching. Bolt cutters, an E-tool spade, a hatchet, an ice axe, a machete, a kukri, combat knives and batons.
  • Field gear. Frag grenades, a flashbang, a handheld radio, a rugged laptop, flashlights, a spare bipod and handcuffs.

Why builders like it

  • The look most builders remember. Desert digital and heavy plate carriers are what Team Six looked like through most of the GWOT years, and it's a look you don't see on many figures.
  • Completes the special ops shelf. With our Delta Force, 75th Rangers, Pararescue PJs and MARSOC Raiders, you've got the elite of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines in one lineup.
  • A spare armory, built in. There's way more gear than five operators can carry, so the extras are ready for your other squads or a weapon rack.
  • It fits your collection. Standard bodies, so every figure and every piece of gear swaps with the minifigures you already own.
