Semper Fi. The Marines have been "Always Faithful" since 1775, and MARSOC is where the Corps sends its toughest to become Marine Raiders. These five wear the Eagle, Globe and Anchor twice, once on the sleeve and again on the chest, and come with enough gear to stock a whole armory.
The story behind the Raiders
- Born in a tavern. The Continental Marines were founded on November 10, 1775, with recruiting famously starting at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia. Marines everywhere still celebrate that birthday every single year, wherever they are.
- Devil Dogs. At Belleau Wood in 1918, Marines fought so hard that, as the legend goes, German troops called them "Teufelshunde," devil dogs. The name stuck, and so did the bulldog mascot.
- The original Raiders. In 1942, the Marines formed elite Raider battalions for hit-and-run missions in the Pacific. Carlson's Raiders hit Makin Island by submarine, and Edson's Raiders held the ridge at Guadalcanal. Carlson gave the world the phrase "Gung Ho," meaning "work together."
- MARSOC steps up. In 2006, the Corps stood up Marine Forces Special Operations Command, its own special operations force. In 2014, its units took back the Raider name to honor the men of 1942.
- Earning the title. Marines who want in go through a grueling assessment and selection, then months more of training to become Critical Skills Operators. Their motto is Spiritus Invictus, "unconquerable spirit."
The details that make them Marines
- The Eagle, Globe and Anchor, on the sleeve. The Marine emblem in full color on the left arm, set on red and ringed with white stars. Since 1868, the eagle has stood for the nation, the globe for service anywhere in the world, and the anchor for the Marines' roots at sea.
- And again on the chest. A subdued Eagle, Globe and Anchor patch printed on the chest, the way it's worn in the field.
- Flags front, back and side. An American flag on the right sleeve, the vest, and the back.
- "U.S.MC" on the helmet and an "A+" blood type patch on the vest.
- Printed kit head to toe. Marine woodland digital camo, magazine pouches, cargo pockets, boots, and gloved hands like the real operators wear.
What's in the pack
- Five Raiders, five personalities. Every fig gets its own head, from camo face paint behind ballistic glasses to a hard, squinting stare, so no two look alike.
- Kit for the whole team. Helmets, plate carriers, backpacks, belts and knee pads.
- Machine guns. M60, M240B, M249 SAW and RPD, with bipods, ammo boxes and a drum.
- Carbines. Tan M4A1 and HK416-style carbines with ACOG and long-range scopes, a Mk 18, and a short-barrel carbine with a holo sight.
- Shotguns. AA-12 with drum, Striker, KSG-style bullpup, and a pump-action trench gun.
- Sidearms. Glock-style pistols (one with a light), M9, P226-style, 1911, and revolvers, including a big-bore with a red dot.
- Blades and breaching. Bolt cutters, an E-tool spade, a hatchet, an ice axe, a machete, a kukri, combat knives and batons.
- Field gear. Frag grenades, a flashbang, a handheld radio, a rugged laptop, flashlights, a spare bipod and handcuffs.
Why builders like it
- Unmistakably Marine. The Eagle, Globe and Anchor twice over and the woodland digital camo. Nobody's mistaking these for Army.
- Completes the special ops shelf. Put them next to our Delta Force, 75th Rangers and Pararescue PJs and you've got the elite of the Army, Air Force and Marines in one lineup.
- A spare armory, built in. There's way more gear than five Raiders can carry, so the extras are ready for your other squads or a weapon rack.
- It fits your collection. Standard bodies, so every figure and every piece of gear swaps with the minifigures you already own.
